I just tried to install Orange3 using Anaconda Navigator. After over an hour and a half, no sign of making any progress. However, when I cancelled it and then installed Orange separately, it too less then 15 minutes to download and install the program.

Welcome to the Anaconda Community. Did you try installing it into the same conda environment in both instances? I would recommend installing it into a new environment in Anaconda Navigator, not the base environment.
