Problem: running Spyder after Anaconda Installation

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to get Spyder running on my computer for about two weeks and am very eager to find a solution.

I downloaded the Anaconda installer (Download Now | Anaconda) and have been able to get the Anaconda navigator up. However, it asks me to update the navigator to the latest version even though I just downloaded the product, which I find strange. In addition, when I click through to download the new version, it closes the Anaconda navigator but doesn’t update it.

The real problem occurs when I try to run Spyder. Briefly, the start window for Spyder will pop up, but then it closes and gives me the error comment which I’ve included below. When I click through this, it tells me further that starting Spyder may have produced errors: "Opt/ anaconda3/bin/pythonw: line 3: 12957 Segmentation fault: 11 /opt/anaconda3/python.app/Contents/MacOS/python “$@”

The full report on the error is very long so I’ll see if I can include it as a comment below.

Thanks a million billion to whoever can help me navigate this,
Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

We have addressed an issue in package python.app which we believe will solve your problem regarding starting Spyder. Would you be able to update your environment and try again?

Thank you,
Charles
