Packages in environment

Dear all,

I am just starting to use Anaconda.
I am wondering if I need to install packages every time I use the same environment or once installed in that environment it stays always?

Thanks so much,
Bine

Once you install packages in an environment, they’ll always be there so you don’t need to reinstall them.

Thank you, thats great

Question about environments. does the environment use/can package from the main Conda installation? For example, my custom environment needs a package; however, the main Conda installation already has the installed version. Is there some way to tell my custom environment to use the already installed package?

hi Mike, what you’re describing is actually a feature and not a bug  we recommend users to install packages they need in every new environment, this way your environments stay nice and tidy, and don’t rely on each other!
